WHO WE ARE

When you use our website or send emails and other electronic messages from your computer or mobile device, you’re communicating with us electronically. By doing so, you agree to receive replies from us in the same way — electronically. We recommend keeping copies of these communications for your records.

You also agree that any agreements, notices, disclosures, or other information we provide electronically meet any legal requirements for written communication.

COMMENTS

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the information provided in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser details to help us detect and prevent spam.

We may also create an anonymized string (called a hash) from your email address and share it with the Gravatar service to check if you use it. You can review Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.

MEDIA

If you upload images to our website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS) in them. Visitors can download images and may be able to extract this location information.

COOKIES

If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This makes it easier for you by not having to re-enter your details the next time you comment. These cookies will stay on your device for one year.

When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie doesn’t contain any personal information and is deleted when you close your browser.

Login cookies last for two days, but if you select “Remember Me,” your login will stay active for two weeks. Screen options cookies remain for one year. Logging out will remove your login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved that holds the post ID of the article you worked on. This cookie doesn’t contain personal data and expires after one day.

Legal Grounds for Processing

We only collect and process personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so. This includes your consent (e.g. when you subscribe to emails), the necessity of processing for the performance of a contract (e.g. fulfilling your order), compliance with legal obligations, or our legitimate business interests (e.g. improving our services).

EMBEDDED CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITE

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles from other websites. This embedded content behaves just as if you visited the other website directly.

Please be aware that these external sites may collect information about you, use cookies, implement additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interactions with the embedded content—especially if you have an account and are logged in to those sites.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes.

HOW LONG WE RETAIN YOUR DATA

When you leave a comment, we keep the comment and its metadata indefinitely. This helps us automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments you make, so they don’t get held up in moderation.

If you register on our website (if applicable), we store the personal information you provide in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal details at any time—except your username, which cannot be changed. Website administrators can also access and manage this information.

How We Protect Your Data

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption, secure servers, and access controls. While no system is entirely foolproof, we are committed to protecting your data as best as we can.

WHAT RIGHTS YOU HAVE OVER YOUR DATA

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including any information you’ve provided. You can also ask us to delete your personal data. Please note that we may be required to retain certain information for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

WHERE YOUR DATA IS SENT

Visitor comments may be screened using an automated spam detection service to help prevent unwanted content.

Third-Party Services

We may share limited personal information with trusted third-party service providers such as DHL (for shipping and returns) and Stripe or PayPal (for payment processing). These third parties only receive the information necessary to perform their specific service and are bound by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their terms for more detail.
